Muhammad sa The Perfect Man 71 riding. 17 During one journey while encamping, in the last part of the night, it was Hadrat Bil a l ra 's duty to wake others up for Fajr S al a t but he fell asleep and everyone woke up at daybreak. The Fajr S al a t was delayed. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa was distressed and did not like to stay at the place where the S al a t had been missed. He advanced to another place and offered S al a t. 18 Even in the exigency of war time, H u du r sa took measures to safeguard the observance of S al a t. Before the Battle of Badr he was weeping and sobbing in S al a t. He pleaded with God for the safety of the three hundred and thirteen believers and in fact he had already won the battle with his supplications in that small tent. In the battle of U h ud when he had bled profusely from the wound on his cheek caused by the chain of his helmet, he was feeling very weak. The martyrdom of seventy Companions was an even bigger shock to his nerves. On hearing Bil a l ra 's call for prayer, he came for S al a t, conforming to his normal routine in ordinary days.
