CHAPTER 4 A perfect servant of the Almighty God who discharged his obligations 70 One such occasion was when he went for reconciliation amongst Ban i ‘Amr bin ‘Auf. According to his instructions, in case of delay, Hadrat Ab u Bakr ra started to lead the S al a t, at the request of Hadrat Bil a l ra. In the meanwhile H u du r sa arrived, Hadrat Ab u Bakr ra stepped back and the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa led the prayer. 12 The second occasion was when he lagged behind the caravan that he was travelling with and it went ahead without him. Hadrat ‘Abdur Ra h m a n bin ‘Auf ra started to lead S al a t in order to avoid the risk of expiry time for S al a t. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa later joined them and appreciated that the Companions had offered the S al a t on time. 13 At the time of the Battle of Ban u Qurai z ah, while dispatching his Companions to the enemy castles, H u du r sa gave them the target of offering ‘A s r S al a t in the land of Ban u Qurai z ah. 14 In this way he made advance arrangements for S al a t. He took the precaution of offering S al a t on time even during the journey. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa used to offer Nafal S al a t during a journey while riding and faced the same direction that his mount was going. 15 However he would always stop for the obligatory S al a t and offered Qa s r and Jam’a S al a t in congregation. 16 When it was raining, at times, he offered the obligatory prayers while
