CHAPTER 7 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's Deep Love for the Holy Quran 126 anything but We watch you when you are engrossed therein. " God loved the recitation of the Holy Qur’ a n by the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa because it was full of heartfelt emotions of love and pathos. His recitation used to be so elegant that it has been described in the Holy Qur’ a n as, ِ ْ اَﻟَّﺬ َ ﻳ ٰﻦ َ ا ْ ﺗ ٰ ُ ﻨ ٰﻬُﻢ َ اﻟْﻜِﺘ َﺐ ٗ ﻳ َّﺘْﻠُﻮْﻧَﻪ ٖﺣَﻖ ﺗِﻼَوَﺗِﻪ ؕ◌ ٰٓ ِٕ اُوﻟ ¯ َ ُﻚ َ ﻳ ٖﺆْﻣِﻨُﻮْن ﺑِﻪ (2:122) "They to whom We have given the book, follow it as it ought to be followed; it is these that believe therein. " The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa used to recite it in such a beautiful tone and in a clear distinct manner that the full obligation of recitation was discharged. Someone asked Hadrat Anas ra about the recitation of the Holy Qur’ a n by the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. He replied that H u du r sa used to recite for a long period of time. Hadrat Anas ra recited "Bismill a h" as the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa used to recite it. He recited Ar-Ra h m a n and Ar-Ra hi m in a drawn out manner. 4 Hadrat Ab u Hurairah ra relates that the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa told him that God does not listen to anything more intently as He does to the recitation of the Holy Qur’ a n being recited by him when he recites it in a melodious tune. 5
