CHAPTER 23 Patience in Times of Affliction 550 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's beloved uncle who was his shield during the years of persecution in Makkah, met martyrdom at Uhud. His dead body was mutilated and his nose and ears were cut off. His liver was thrown away after being chewed and his dead body desecrated and disgraced. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa came to the dead body, saw the state of mutilation and said, "If I was not concerned about the grief of my paternal aunt, S afiyyah, I would have left the dead body as it was. The beast of prey would eat it and on the Day of Judgement, he would have been resurrected from their bellies. " Then he asked for a sheet, covered his body and buried it. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa endured the shock of the deaths of his friends. At the battle of Uhud, seventy of his Companions were martyred. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa showed utmost patience and resignation to the will of All a h. At the battle of Mu’tah, the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's cousin, Ja‘far T ayy a r ra , Zaid bin Ha rithah ra and Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin Raw ah ah ra were martyred.
