Continuation of Prophethood according to the Holy Qur’ ā n 265 S ū rah Al-‘Ar ā f, 7:36 ِْ اٰﻳٰىت ُْ ﻋَﻠَﻴْمك َ ﻳَﻘُﺼُّﻮْن ُْ ﻣِّﻨْمك ٌ رُﺳُﻞ ُْ ايَْﺗِﻴَﻨَّمك اِﻣَّﺎ َ اٰدَم ِْۤ ۙﻳٰﺒَىن اﺗَّﻘٰﻰ ِ ﻓَﻤَﻦ َ ﻓَﻼ َ وَاَﺻْﻠَﺢ َ حيَْﺰَﻧُﻮْن ُْ مه َ وَﻻ ْ ﻋَﻠَهيِْﻢ ٌ ﺧَﻮْف O children of Adam! If messengers come to you from among yourselves, rehearsing My Signs unto you, then whoso shall fear God and do good deeds, on them shall come no fear nor shall they grieve. Refuting Farhan Khan’s Argument In his chapter on S ū rah Al-‘Ar ā f, verse 36, Farhan Khan makes another failed attempt to refute the Ahmadiyya Muslim understanding of a verse which clearly supports the continuation of prophethood. His only response is, “It is referring to previous nations. This is clear upon further analysis of both the context of the verse and the language All ā h uses to address humanity. . . one must look at the verses before and the verses after this one to understand its context. . . ” 260 In other words, according to Farhan Khan, wherever “ ٰ ﻳ ِْۤ ﺒَىن َ اٰدَم ” (O Children of Adam) has been mentioned before and after verse 36 in S ū rah Al-A‘r ā f, it is only applicable to previous nations, not the Muslims. Let us take a look at verse 27 of S ū rah Al-A‘r ā f to see whether Farhan Khan’s claim makes any sense. All ā h, the Exalted, says: 260 Khan, With Love, Page 54
