T H e J O u r NA l—F AT e H M A S IH T H e J O u r NA l—F AT e H M A S IH 143 1 اوُرُكْذاَف َهّٰللا ْمُكِرْكِذَك ْمُكَءٓاَبٰا ْوَا َّدَشَا اًرْكِذ In short, this is the interpretation of the verse: 2 َّنِا َهّٰللا ُرُمْاَي ِلْدَعْلاِب َو ِناَسْحِاْلا َو ِئٓاَتْيِا يِذ ىٰبْرُقْلا God has mentioned all the three stages of a man’s enlightenment in it and has termed the third stage to be that of personal love. This is the level at which all mundane objectives are incinerated and the heart brims over with love just as a vial brims over with perfume, and this level has been indicated in the verse: 3 َو َنِم ِساَّنلا ْنَم ْيِرْشَّي ُهَسْفَن َءٓاَغِتْبا ِتاَضْرَم ِهّٰللا١ؕ َو ُهّٰللا ٌۢفْوُءَر ِداَبِعْلاِب ۰۰ Meaning that there are also some from among the believers who sell their own selves in exchange for the pleasure of Allah, and God is indeed Compassionate to such people. 4 ٭ Then He says: ىٰلَب ١ۗ ْنَم َمَلْسَا ٗهَهْجَو ِهّٰلِل َو َوُه ٌنِسْحُم ۤٗهَلَف ٗهُرْجَا َدْنِع ٖهِّبَر١۪ َو اَل ٌفْوَخ ْمِهْيَلَع َو اَل ْمُه 5 َنْوُنَزْحَي۰۰ 1. c elebrate the praises of Allah as you celebrated the praises of your fa- thers, or even more than that ( S u rah al-Baqarah, 2:201).
