KHILAFAT Hadrat Maulw i Nur-ud-D i n ra — Khalifatul Masih I 196 words Hadrat Khalifatul Masih ra passes his time in putting God’s commandments into effect, and exercising compassion towards His creatures. During the time of the Promised Messiah as , Maulaw i N u r-ud-D i n ra led the Prayer services in Masjid Mub a rak. When Maulaw i ‘Abdul Kar i m ra moved permanently to Qadian he was asked to lead the Prayer services in that mosque, but on his death Maulaw i N u r-ud- D i n ra , despite his reluctance, had to resume the leadership of Prayer services in Masjid Mub a rak. Since becoming Khal i fa he has continued to lead these services despite his physical infirmity and indifferent health. After the dawn Prayer service he gives lessons in the Holy Quran to several women. Thereafter, for an hour, he holds a clinic for patients who come to Qadian from outside. He then gives lessons to Sahibz a da Mirz a Bash i r- ud-D i n Ma h m u d Ahmad ra and to M i r Muhammad Is ha q ra. There are, in addition, lessons in the Holy Quran, Hadith and Principles of Jurisprudence which any one may attend. All the time he continues his prayers sotto voce. I have seen it with my own eyes that when he receives his mail he holds each letter in his hand and prays for the writer. This system is so extensive that after each Prayer service and after the lesson of the Holy Quran he holds scores of written requests for prayers in his hands, and as he reads each he prays for each supplicant according to the purport of his request. Before he became Khal i fa his relationship with the members of the Movement
