[ARABIC ODE BY THE PROMISED MESSIAH] 965 مَا نَاضَلُوْنِي ثُمَّ قَالُوا جَاهِلٌ انْظُرْ إِلَى إِبْذَائِهِمْ وَجَفَاءِ با من مقابله نکردند باز گفتند که جاهل است ایذاء ایشان به بین وجفاء ایشان به بین Without challenging me, they declared me ignorant— Behold their torture and iniquity! دَعْوَى الْكُمَاةِ يَلُوْحُ عِنْدَ تَقَابُلٍ دعوی بهادران وقت مقابله ظاهر می گردد حد الظُّبَاتِ يُنِيرُ فِي الْهَيْجَاءِ تیزی شمشیر با در جنگ روشن می شود Boasts of bravery find vindication only in battle, The cutting edge of a sword shines only in war. رَجُلٌ بِبَطْنِ بَطَالَةَ بَطَّالَةٌ تَعْلِي عَدَاوَتُهُ كَرَعْدِ طَخَاءِ در شهر بٹالہ که از بطالت پر است مردیست که دشمنی او همچور عد ابر در جوش است The resident of Batala is good for nothing; His enmity for me rolls like thunderbolt from the clouds. لَا يَحْضُرُ الْمِضْمَارَ مِنْ خَوْفٍ عَرَا يَهْذِى كَنِسْوَانٍ بِحُجْبٍ خَفَاءِ از خوف که می دارد بمیدان نمی آید و بیچو زنان در پرده تاژ می خاید On account of his innate fear, he stays away from the fray; He talks nonsense then hides like a woman behind a veil. قَدْ أَثَرَ الدُّنْيَا وَجِيْفَةَ دَشْتِهَا وَ الْمَوْتُ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ حَيَاةِ غِطَاءِ دنیا و مردار آنرا اختیار کرده است و مردن از زندگی پرده بسیار نیکو است He opted for the world and the carrion of its desert, Indeed, death is better than a life in hiding [out of cowardice]. 1. تعلى appears to be a scribal error.
