Eleve11th Frid ay Sen11011 Feb OJ, 1991 unparalleled in the whole world. So it was not even remotely expected from these two counties, given these facts, that they would betray the Islamic nation. They remind me of a couplet I had heard when I was young and liked it much, but now, only so-so, namely; '-/-/Ll/-i "':"'"'�L,�u,. . fr L�,'"'� I)',,. ;/. cl- "When the hunter torches my nest, to set it ablaze; the very foliage that the nest rested upon, whipped up the fire. " The two countries on which the "nest of the Islamic world" was resting, as far as sanctimonious regard and scholarship is concerned, when the enemy set the nest of the Islamic world on fire, these two countries were among those who fanned this fire. It is a crime which history would never adjudge as pardonable. Allah alone knows what is destined for today or tomorrow, whether His Reward or Punishment is going to be manifest in this world or in the Hereafter; God alone is the Master Who can bring the best judgement. But as far as worldly perception goes, the ill effects are partly unfolding now and the remaining ones would stretch well into the times to come, and these would not remain confined to this part of the world, rather these would be much broader and would spread much farther. THE WAR AS EVALUATED BY WESTERN COMMENTATORS Another aspect of this war that I wish to put before you, concerns the purpose of this war; why is it being waged? What is its motivation and significance? Unless we understand it well, we cannot say what should be the correct stand of the Islamic nations or what should be the world view, or what action should the United Nations take in this regard. Appropriate remedy cannot be prescribed in the absence of a proper analysis of the disease and its diagnosis. So, in the remaining part of this sermon, I will present a brief analysis of the causes, real motives and objectives of this war, so that in light of this, I may present some suggestions for the benefit of the United Nations as well as for other nations of the world including the Muslim world, as to what is the solution to these problems from the Ahmadiyya Muslim viewpoint.
