The Gulf Crisis & The New World Order given to establishment of peace in the world in future, how should one approach it. Right now we are hearing the Western claims, and President Bush is most vociferously projecting these claims, that this is not a religious war; this war is not intended to serve any selfish interests; it is not an oil-war; it is not a war to further Western interests; it is not an Islamic war or a Jewish war or a Christian war. What kind of war is it then? They claim that this is a war for truth and justice; this war is between truth and falsehood; between virtue and vice; this war is being waged by the whole world against a ruthless barbarian Saddam. This is the American view which is being so forcefully propagated through radio, T. V. and newspapers that the majority of the Western world has accepted it as the truth. But there are many just-minded and perceptive observers - I am speaking of the Western observers - which include politicians, intellectuals, journalists and people from many other walks of life, who are raising their voices that this is all false and mere propaganda; our leaders are openly deceiving us. This war is for something else. Mr. Edward Heath, the former Prime Minister of U. K. is among the greatest living personalities in Britain who are endowed with foresight and political acumen as well as extensive political experience. He has consistently held that our present political leadership is practising de<:eption upon us, and that this war is extremely selfish, brutal and foolish for, according to him, it will produce horrifying evil consequences in the post-war era. Anyway, I do not wish to go into any further details as to what is being said by the Western thinkers in general. Summarily, this is the second voice that is being heard that this war is for oil; it has selfish motives; it is in defence of Israel and it is a war to achieve the Israeli objectives. Some say it is a war between President Bush and President Saddam and, according to this view, it has become a matter of personal ego for President Bush and his decision-power as his emotions are no longer in his control. When he speaks, he loses self control and uses such childish prattle that it does not seem as if a great national leader is speaking. Those who hold this view stress their point that this war is really President Bush's war because President Bush has extreme hatred against President Saddam due to the latter's 197
