برئ بر وَالْبَحْرِ : And He knows what is in the land and the sea )6:60( إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْبَرُّ الرَّحِيمُ : He is the Benign, the Merciful )52:29( وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ الْأَبْرَارِ : And in death Thou include us among the righteous (3 : 194). بَرَرَةٍ )plural of بَرٌ and )بَارٌ( : Noble virtuous )80:17( بُرّ : Wheat; a grain of wheat. لَنْ تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ : You shall not attain to righteousness )3:93(. The Holy Prophet is reported to have said: عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ فَإِنَّهُ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ : Keep to truth, for it guides to good or a right state. بَرِّيٌّ : Belonging to land; living in the desert. أَرْضُ بَرِّيَّةٌ : Uncultivated land; land without green, plant or water. بَرِى ]aor. يَبْرَأُ inf. noun. بَرَاءَةٌ [ : He was or became clear or free from a thing or became rid of it; he was or became immune, exempt, secure or free. بَرَيَّ مِنَ الْمَرَضِ : He became free from the disease; he became convalescent; or he recovered his health but not completely . بَرِيَّ الْجُرْحَ : The wound healed. بَرِيٌّ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ and بَرُؤُ ]aor. يَبْرَا and يَبْرًا : He was free from the thing or quit or rid thereof; he was guiltless of it and was not responsible for it. بَرِى مِنَ الدَّيْنِ : He became clear of debt or exempt from it; he was not responsible for its payment. بَرِيٌّ also means: He asserted or declared himself to be clear or quit or was not responsible; he kept aloof or shunned or avoided. بَرَأَ اللَّهُ الْخَلْقَ aor. يَبْرَأُ inf. noun. بَراً[ : God created mankind after no model or similitude. The primary meaning of the root بَرَءَ is to denote a thing becoming clear or free of or from another thing; either by being released therefrom or by production بَرَ اللهُ النَّسَمَةَ : God created or produced man. مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ نَّبْرَأَهَا : Before We create it or bring it into being )57:23( بَرَاءَة being inf. noun. from بَرِى besides possessing all the meanings derived from this root, particularly means: A declaration of granting or conferring or announcing immunity or exemption or absolution from a fault or responsibility; freedom from blame; exemption or absolution from a demand etc. بَرَاءَةٌ مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَرَسُوْلِهِ : This is a declaration of absolution on the part of God and His Messenger from all obligation. )91( أَبْرَأَهُ مِنَ الْعَيْبِ or بَرَّاهُ مِنَ الْعَيْبِ : He made him, pronounced or held him to be free from fault or defect. فَبَرَّاهُ اللهُ مِمَّا قَالُوا : But Allah cleared him of what they spoke of him 62
