لب لَبَّ pearls (52:25) لبد ]originally لَبِبَ[ ]aor. يَأْبُّ and يَتَبُّ inf. noun لَبٌ and لَبَّ البُّ : He was or became possessed of i. e understanding, intelligence. لَبَّ اللَّوْزَ : He broke the almond and took forth its kernel. لَبَّ بِالْمَكَانِ : He stayed or remained or abode in the place. أَلَبَّ عَلَى الْأَمْرِ : He kept to the thing or affair لَبٌ )inf. noun لَبَّيْكَ At thy service, literally doubly at thy service. لَبَّيْكَ is derived from (or rather from as syn with ie "he remained" and means I wait upon thy service or upon obedience to thee; waiting (at thy service) after waiting (i. e. time after time). The right way would be to say لا لَكَ but it is put in the dual number for the sake of corroboration i. e. waiting at thy service or in attendance upon thee time after time. Or لَبَّيْكَ is from the saying دَارُ فُلانٍ تَلُبُّ دَارِي : The house of such a one faces my house, and the meaning is, I present myself before thee, doing what thou likest, answering thee time after time. The ی )Yi) is to form the dual number. تُبٌ : The heart, pith, kernel of an almond or a nut; what is pure or the choicest or best part of a thing. ثُ )of a man): Understanding; intellect; intelligence; so called because it is the choicest or best part of and has a more special sense than اَلْبَابٌ عَقْلٌ plural(. ذُولُبٌ : Person having intelligence, understanding. أُولُوا الْأَلْبَابِ : Persons of understanding (2:180),(3:191). لَبِتَ ]aor. يَلْبَتُ inf. noun تَلَبَّتْ لَبَتْ as also لَبِتَ بِالْمَكَانِ أَوْ تَلَبَّتْ : He tarried and waited and stayed in the house; he tarried or remained in the house. لابت )act. part. noun. لَبِشِيْنَ فِيْهَا )plural( : They will tarry therein )78:24( وَ مَا تَلَبَّثُوا بِهَا : Would not have tarried (33:15). لَبِدَ ]aor. يَلْبَدُ and لَبَدَ aor. يَأْبُدُ inf. noun لَبَدْ[ : It (a thing) stuck, clave or adhered to the place. لَبَدَ بِالْمَكَانِ : He stayed in the house. لَبَدَ الْقَوْمُ بِالرَّجُلِ : The people surrounded the man and clave to him. He : لَبَدَ الشَّيْءَ بِالشَّيْءِ (72:20) They crowd upon him : يَكُوْنُوْنَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًا put the thing over the thing firmly. لُبَدْ : A number of men collected together and compacted, one upon another. لِبَدٌ 732
