Ú ö à ø Ï ôù fø ^ l º is plural. ]ø Ö» Û ö à ø Ï ôù fø ^ l º means the angels of the night and the day, because they succeed one another by turns; the feminine form is used because of the frequency of their doing so, since in Arabic the feminine form is sometimes used to impart emphasis and frequency, as it is in the word ]ø Ö» Û ö à ø Ï ôù fø ^ l º i. e. the angels called ]ø Ö» v ø Ë ø ¿ ø è ö. ]ø Ö» Û ö à ø Ï ôù fø ^ l ö also signifies the she-camels that stand behind those that are pressing towards the watering tank, so that when one she-camel goes away, another takes her place; also ejaculations of ö f» v ø ^ á ø ] Ö × # ä ô and ]ø Ö» v ø Û » ö Öô × # ä ô and ]ø Ö × # ä ö ]ø Ò » fø ö repeated after Prayers. Öø ä ü Ú ö à ø Ï ôù fø ^ l º : For him are angels ranged before him and after him (13:12). Ú ö à ø Ï ôù g º also means, one who makes warring expedition repeatedly and does not stay with his family after his return; one who seeks after a thing, repeatedly striving or exerting himself; one who puts off or repels the payment of what is due from him.
