سهل hundred and fifty four days and a third of a day. According to Imam Raghib سَنَةٌ is used as denoting a year in which is difficulty, drought or barrenness or dearth and عام as denoting that in which is ampleness of the means or circumstances of life and abundance of herbage or the like. سَنَةٌ also means, drought or barrenness, or vehement or intense drought. أَصَابَتْهَا السَّنَةُ : Drought or barrenness befellit. أَرْضُ سَنْوَاءٌ or أَرْضُ سَئَةٌ : A land affected with drought or barrenness. سَنَةٌ سَنْوَاءٌ : A hard rigorous or distressing year. (plural( سُنُوْنٌ and سِنِينٌ and سَوَاتٌ and That you might know the number of years : لِتَعْلَمُوا عَدَدَ السِّنِينَ . سَنَهَاتٌ سنا )10:6( اَخَذْنَا آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ بِالسِّنِينَ : We punished Pharoah's people with years of drought (or drought) (7:131). 28 سَهِرَ ]aor. يَسْهَرُ inf. noun سَهَرٌ[ : He did not sleep by night; he remained awake at night. سَهِرَ الْبَرَقُ : The lightning gleamed during the night. لَيْلٌ سَاهِرٌ : A night of sleeplessness (opposite عَيْنٌ سَاهِرَةٌ . لَيْلٌ نَائِمٌ : Arunning spring. أَرْضُ سَاهِرَةٌ : Land that produces plants quickly. سَاهِرَةٌ : A wide or an extensive tract of land, the traverser of which remains awake during the night; the earth or land; the surface of earth; a desert, or an untrodden land; Hell. فَإِذَا هُمْ بِالسَّاهِرَةِ : And behold! they will be in the open or will be awakened (79:15). سَهُلَ ]aor. يَسْهُلُ inf. noun سَهُلَ الْمَكَانُ سُهُوْلَةٌ : The place was or became smooth, soft, plain or level. سَهُلَ الْأَمْرُ : The affair was or became easy. سُهُوْلٌ سَهْلٌ plural) : Smooth or soft, plain or level; a smooth, soft, plain or level tract of land easy or facile. تَتَّخِذُوْنَ مِنْ سُهُوْلِهَا قُصُوْرًا : You build palaces in its plains or soft and level places )7:75( رَجُلٌ سَهْلُ الْخُلُقِ : A man of easy disposition. أَهْلاً وَ سَهْلاً : You have come among your relatives and in an easy and softplace. و و سَهَمَ ]aor. يَسْهَمُ and سَهُم aor. يَسْهَمُ inf. noun سُهُومٌ[ : He was or became altered in colour or emaciated or lank and lean سُهِمَ : He was or became smitten with سهام ie burning heat of summer. سَاهَمَ : He cast lots. سَاهَمَهُ : He shot arrows) سهام( with him in competition; he cast or drew lots with him; or competed with himin doing so. سَاهَمَهُمْ فَسَهَمَهُمْ : He cast lots with them and overcame them therein. فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ 28 417
