سجد ست laudable purpose (2:216). سَتَّ ]aor. يَسُتُ inf. noun سَتَهُ سَتٌ : He accused him or charged him with a fault or defect. ستة )masc) meaning "six". خَلَقَ السَّمَواتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ : He (God) created the heavens and the earth in six days )7:55( سِتَّوْنَ and سِتِّيْنَ : Seventy . فَإِطْعَامُ سِتِّيْنَ مِسْكِينًا : The feeding of sixty poor people )585( ستون also means, sixtieth. سَتَرَ ]aor. يَسْتُرُ inf. noun سَتْرٌ and سَتَرَ الشَّيْءَ أَوْ سَتَّرَهُ سَتَرٌ : He concealed or hid the thing; he covered it. سَتَرَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ : The woman was or became modest or bashful. اِسْتَتَرَ : It was or became veiled, concealed or covered; it covered itself. فُلانٌ لَا يَسْتَتِرُ مِنَ اللَّهِ بِسِتْرٍ : Such a one does not protect himself from the displeasure of God i. e. does not fear God. وَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَسْتَتِرُوْنَ : And you did not fear (while committing sins( )41:23( سِتْرٌ )and( سُتَرَةٌ( : A veil; a curtain; a screen; a covering; a covert; anything by which a person or thing is covered, or concealed; a protection. لَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَّهُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِهَا سِتْرًا : We had placed no veil or screen for them against it; We had made no shelter or protection. . . . . . )18:91( هتک الله سِتْرَهُ : God rent open, or may God rend open his veil or make known his vice or faults; or may God disgrace him. ستر also means, fear, modesty or bashfulness, intelligence. مَالَهُ سِتْرٌ وَ لَا حِجْرٌ : He does not possess modesty nor intelligence. مَسْتُورٌ : )pass part. ): Hidden; covered حِجَابًا مَّسْتَوْرًا : A hidden barrier or veil )17:46( حِجَابًا مَّسْتَوْرًا also means a veil covered by another veil, implying the thickness of the veil. سَجَدَ ]aor. يَسْجُدُ inf. noun سُجُودٌ[ : He was or became lowly, humble or submissive, bending himself down; he prostrated himself, putting his forehead on the ground. سَجَدَ لَهُ : He submitted to him; he saluted him; he paid respect to him or magnified him. أَسْجُدُوا لِآدَمَ فَسَجَدُوْا : Submit to Adam, and they all submitted )2:35( The سُجُودٌ of inanimate things to God, we understand as denoting obedience to that whereto they are made subservient and as a fact to be believed without inquiry into the manner thereof. وَ لِلَّهِ يَسْجُدُ مَا فِي السَّمَواتِ : And whatever is in the heavens submits humbly to Allah )16:50( سَجْدَةٌ and سِجْدَةٌ : A single act 381
