س س سأل It is one of the letters termed مَهْمُوسَةٌ )or non-vocal, i. e. pronounced with the breath only, without the voice); and of the letters termed اَسْلِيَّةٌ because proceeding from the tip of the tongue: Its place of utterance is between that of and . It is one of the letters of augmentation. It is sometimes substituted for and for and some of the Arabs substitute it for . In 36:2 يَاسين may mean يَا إِنْسَانُ ie. O man or perfect man or يَاسَيِّدُ i. e. O leader or perfect leader is a particle peculiarly prefixed to the aorist rendering it clearly denotative of the future. سَيَفْعَلُ : He will do such a thing. سَيَقُوْلُ السُّفَهَاءُ : The foolish will say (2:143). It is not contracted from سَوْفَ contrary to what the Kufees say; nor is the extent of the future with it shorter than it is with سَوْفَ contrary to what the Basrees hold.
