ø Öô Ì º [Alif] : It is of two kinds, Öø n ô ù ßø è º (soft) and Ú ö jø v ø  ôù Ò ø è º (moving) or â ø Û »  ø é º. The grammarians have other particular appellations for second kind of Alif ( â ø Û »  ø é º ), some of which are ]ø Öô Ì ö ] ô  » jô Ë » ã ø ^ Ý ô (the Alif of interrogation) as in ø  ø m»  º Î ø ^ ñô Ü º (Is Zaid Standing?), ]ø Öø Ü » Þø  »  ø | » Öø Ô ø  ø  »  ø Õ ø (Did We not expand thy breast?), (94:2), ]ø Öô Ì ö ] Ö j $ Ë ø  $ Ø (denoting comparative and superlative degrees) as in ø Öø ¡» F ì ô  ø é ö ]ø Ò » fø  ö  ø  ø q ø ^ l õ (The Hereafter shall be greater in degrees) (17:22), ]ø Öô Ì ö ] Ö  $ ç ô m $ è ô (denoting sameness or equality) as in ð ø ]ø Þ»  ø  » iø ã ö Ü » ]ø Ý » Öø Ü » iö ß»  ô  » â ö Ü » Ö ^ mö ç , Ú ô ßö ç » á ø (whether thou warn them or warn them not, they will not believe), (2:7). ]ø h ' [Substantive from ]ø h $ aor. mø òô g % and mø ç. h % inf. noun ]ø e & ^ and ]ø eô n» f÷ ^ and ]ø eø ^ eø è ÷ ] : He prepared himself for journey. ]ø h $ ]ô ÖF o æ ø  ø ßô ä´ : He longed to see his home. ]ø h ' : Herbage which beasts feed upon; green herbage or plants. æ ø Ê ø ^ Ò ô ã ø è ÷ æ $ ]ø e & ^ : And fruits and herbage (80:32). ]ø eø  º [ ]ö eö ç »  º inf. noun and ]ø eø  º substantive noun]. ]ø eø  ÷ ] occurs in many verses of the Holy Qur'an. ]ø eø  ø eô ^ Ö» Û ø Ó ø ^ á ô : He remained, stayed or dwelt in a place constantly, permanently or without quitting; he (a beast) became wild or shy. ]ø eø  º : Time in an absolute sense; a long time; unlimited time; an extended space of time that is indivisible. ]ø  ø eø  ö : The Everlasting i. e. God; or the Ancient without beginning. ]ø eø  ô m $ è º : The quality of being everlasting or of unlimited or indivisible duration. ì ø ^ Öô  ô m» à ø Ê ô n» ã ø ^ ]ø eø  ÷ ] : Shall live in it for ever (4:58). ]ô e»  ô m» Ð º [plural ]ø eø ^  ô m» Ð ö ]: An ewer such as is used for wine or water; a shining sword having a long and slender spout and a handle; a beautiful or brilliant woman; a vessel having a spout; water jug; a woman who shows her beauty intentionally. ]ø eø Ð ø [aor. eô Ð ö mø ^» and mø ^» eö Ð ö inf. noun. ]ø e» Ï ÷ ^ and ]ø eø Ï ÷ ^ and ]ô eø ^ Î ÷ ^ act part. ]ø eô Ð º ]: He (a slave) fled from his master; he hid himself and then went away; ]ø eø Ð ø ] Ö» Ç ö ¡ Ý ö : The slave fled; he hid or concealed himself; he confined, restrained or withheld himself; he abstained from a thing as from a crime; ]ø eø Ð ø ] Ö  $ o » ð ø : He denied the thing; ]ô  » ]ø eø Ð ø ]ô Öø o ] Ö» Ë ö ×» Ô ô ] Ö» Û ø  » v ö ç » á ô : When he fled to the laden ship (37:141). ] Ö Ì ] e Ð 3
