حلق حل lawful for the Children of Israel )3:94( هَذَا حَلَالٌ وَهَذَا حَرَامٌ : This is lawful and this is forbidden )16:117( أَنْتَ حِلٌّ بِهَذَا الْبَلَدِ : Thou art free from obligation; Thou art lawful i. e. thy killing is lawful. )903( حَلَّ الْهَدْى : The animals of sacrifice arrived at the place where they should be sacrificed. حَلَّ الْيَمِينَ : He fulfilled the oath أَحَلَّ أَوْ أَحْلَلَ )transitive of حَلَّ ( : Made lawful; made to alight. أَحَلَّ اللَّهُ الْبَيْعَ : God has made trade lawful )2:276( إِنَّا أَحْلَلْنَا لَكَ أَزْوَاجَكَ : We have made lawful to thee thy wives )33:51(. وَاَحَلُّوْا قَوْمَهُمْ دَارَ الْبَوَارِ : And they made their people land or alight into the abode of ruin )14:29( أُحِلّ is passive voice from اَحَلَّ أُحِلُّ لَكُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ : And pure things have been made lawful to you )56( حَالٌ حِلٌ : Permissible lawful etc. حِلّ means also a woman free from any obstacle to marriage. As for instance by having fulfilled the مُحِلٌ عِدَّة )active) participle from اَحَلّ( : One یک یک لک with whom it is lawful to fight; or when it is lawful to slay; or who has no claim to protection or respect; a man who violates that which is sacred; one who holds a thing to be lawful. غَيْرَ مُحِلَّى الصَّيْدِ : Except that you should not hold game to be lawful )5( )Singular حَلِيْلَةٌ and حَلِيْلٌ حَلِيْلٌ : A fellow lodger or fellow resident in one house; a husband; a neighbour; a guest. وَحَلَائِلُ أَبْنَائِكُمْ : And the wives of your sons )4:24( مَحِلٌ : A place of slaughter of an animal of sacrifice (2:197); the term or period of falling due of a debt. حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْهَدْى مَحِلَّهُ : Until the offering reaches its destination (2:197). 3 حَلَفَ ]aor. يَحْلِفُ inf. noun حَلَفَ بِاللَّهِ حَلْفٌ : He swore by God. حَلَفَ أَنَّهُ كَذَا : He swore it was so. حَلَفَ لَهُ عَلَى كَذَا : He swore to him to do such a thing. حَالِفٌ : One who swears. حلا : One who swears much or often. وَسَيَحْلِفُوْنَ بالله : And so they swear by Allah لک And yield not to any mean swearer : وَلا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِينٍ (9:42) (68:11). حَلَقَ aor. يَحْلِقُ inf. noun حَلَقَ رَأْسَهُ أَوْ حَلَّقَ [ حَلْقًا : He shaved his head حَلَقَ الشَّيْءَ : He peeled the thing; he made the thing according to a measure. حَلَقَ الْحَوْضَ : He filled the pond. حَلَّقَ syn with has an intensive signification and denotes frequency of the action 199
