جمد جلا dispersed; he fled, being driven away from his town. جَلا الْأَمْرَ : He made the affair clear manifest. جَلا الرَّجُلَ عَنْ بَلَدِهِ : He banished the man from his town. جَلا عَنْهُ الْهَمَّ : He removed the grief from him. لا السَّيْفَ : He polished the sword or furbished it. أَجْلاهُ عَنْ بله : He banished him from the town. جَلاء : Banishment. وَلَوْلا أَنْ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْجَلَاءَ : And had it not been that Allah had decreed for them the exile )59:24( اللهُ يُجَلِّى السَّاعَةَ : Allah will make manifest the hour. هُوَ يُجَلِّى عَنْ نَّفْسِهِ : He explains his mind. جَلاهُ : He made it clear, manifest or apparent. تَجَلَّتِ الشَّمْسُ : The sun became clear or exposed to view or it shone. وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّاهَا : And the day when it exposes it to view )914( وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّى : And the day when it shines )923( جَلاء : Banishment; a manifest affair, an acknowledgment or confession. جَمَحَ ]aor. يَجْمَحُ inf. noun جِمَاحٌ[ : He (horse) overcame his master running away with him; he broke loose and went at random without any certain aim so as not to be turned by anything; he (the horse) became refractory so as to overcome his master; he was quick or swift; he (a man) went at random or without a certain aim; he (the man) hastened or went quickly to him. جَمَحَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ : The woman went to her family without the permission of her husband. جَمَحَ بَهِ مُرَادُهُ : The object of his desire baffled his efforts to attain it. وَهُمْ يَجْمَحُوْنَ : They hasten or go quickly so that nothing turns them back (9:57). روش لک جَمَّ ]aor. يَجُمُّ and يَجِمُّ inf. noun جَمَّ الْمَاءُ [جُمُوْمًا : The water was or became much. جَمَّ الْفَرَسُ : The horse was not ridden i. e. it was left unridden. جَمَّ : He or it rose or became high; it drew near; it came to pass. جم )Inf. noun used as an epithet): Much or many. مَالٌ جَمٌ : Much property or many cattle. تُحِبُّوْنَ الْمَالَ حُبَّاجَمَّا : And you love property with much love )89:21( جَمٌ also signifies people of the lowest, basest or meanest sort. لگ جَمَدَ ]aor. يَجْمَدُ inf. noun جَمَدَ الْمَاءُ جُمُوْدٌ : The water congealed, froze, became solid, became dry. جَمَدَ : He or it remained fixed or stationary; he or it was or became incapable of growth, lifeless or dead; he was or became stupid; inert; it was or became 141
