The Promised Messiah’s as Challenge to Compete in the Commentary of the Holy Quran The Promised Messiah as , who was awaiting the P i r’s own response upto that point, addressed him directly in a public announcement which was published on July 20, 1900 pointing out that thousands of P i r Meher ‘Al i Sh a h’s disciples believed him to be the most eminent maulavi in the country with regard to his knowledge, understanding of the Divine verities and subtleties, and also in literary comprehension. In fact, he himself had made a claim in Shamsul- H id a yah that he had been given an understanding of the Holy Quran. To determine the truth in these claims, the Promised Messiah as put forward a simple solution as follows: According to the Holy Quran, the truly sincere servants of God are given Divine help in three ways: 1. . . .
