— Part I 46 reveal complex secrets of nature and the underlying phenomena in every creative process is mind boggling. Some critics of Islam, and those who do not believe in the existence of God, allege that the Holy Quran was not authored by God but is merely the word of Prophet Muhammad sa. If so, the Holy Quran itself would then seem to present a mystery and dilemma of a much greater proportion than the mysteries of nature it discusses. It is amazing how they can afford to ignore the fact that Prophet Muhammad sa , the person to whom they attribute the authorship of the Holy Quran, was unlettered. He was born in a country which was derogatorily referred to as the 'Land of the Illiterate'. On one side of Arabia was the highly advanced civilisation of Persia. On the other lay the great and vast Roman Empire, which was the cradle of knowledge where philosophies and sciences flourished like nowhere else in the world at that time. Both these contemporary superpowers looked down on Arabia with derision and contempt as a breeding ground of ignorance. The authorship of this great fountain of knowledge in such a land can in no way be attributed to the Holy Prophet sa —it can only be the Word of God.
