A New Category of Testimony 283 Another Category of Evidence relating to the Age when the Holy Prophet sa Claimed to be the Messenger from God This evidence relates to the time when the Holy Quran was being revealed and the Holy Prophet sa was physically present among his opponents. The relevant verse addressing this subject is as follows: Say, 'If Allah had so willed, I should not have recited it to you nor would He have made it known to you. I have indeed lived among you a whole lifetime before this. Will you not then understand?' (S u rah Y u nus; Ch. 10: V. 17) In this verse, the Holy Prophet sa is presented as reminding his enemies that he is the same person who spent the larger part of his life among them. They themselves are witness that his long previous life of childhood, early youth and comparatively mature age extending up to forty years, were without blemish. During this long period of time not a blemish was cast on his character and truthfulness. The enemies who declared him to be a liar after his declaration that he was a Messenger of God, had themselves referred to him as the truest person in Arabia. The epithet of being the most trustworthy was showered on him by these very same opponents. How then could it be
