Glossary of Terms xx Part III Bi‘ilmih i : based on His knowledge. Dhimmatun: protection. Dhimm i : Christians and Jews and other non-Muslims living under Muslim rule and Muslim protection. A Dhimm i does not pay Zakat. He is levied a special tax to meet the monetary requirements for his protection and welfare in a Muslim state. H ikmah: wisdom. Khal i fatull a h: vicegerent of Allah. Kh a tamun Nabiyy i n: seal of the Prophets. Khatm-e-Nabuwwat: the seal of Prophethood. Mal a ’ikah (plural of Malak ): angels. Q a imam bil Qis t : in accordance with justice; maintaining justice. Saww a : to make perfect. Sawwaituh u : Fashioned him in perfection. S u ’udd a r: grievous abode. Tazkiyah: purification. Part IV Ar-Ra h m a n: one of the attributes of Allah meaning the Gracious. Aul a d: children. Qauli Sad i d: a true and straightforward statement, (a speech which has no tilt in any direction but in the direction of the truth). Ra h m a n: Gracious (Allah’s attribute). Ri h m: uterus. Sad i d: right, just, well directed. Shar i ka: spirit of fraternity, solidarity with your kin and clan or tribe etc. Walad: a child, son, daughter; offspring. The word is used both in singular and plural and masculine and feminine. (Lane)
