Chapter 13 INDEX General Information A good index helps the reader navigate the substantive topics raised in the book with relative ease. An index is an alphabeti- cally arranged list by subject matter, individual, place, or refer- ences of the Holy Quran, Hadith and revelations of the Promised Messiah. This enables a reader to search for information within the book with far more exacting precision than by referring to the Contents. Tasnif relies on OSG to guide its indexing process. When to Apply The books of the Promised Messiah as should have an index. In the case of longer books, there may be multiple indices (vide Haqiqatul-Wahi). Certain other books, such as children's story- books, may not require an index. Ideally, an index should be created in its own right, although a useful place to begin is reviewing the original index structure. However, not all index entries in the original may add value,
