[AL-QAŞĪDAH] FROM THE AUTHOR [In Praise of the Companions of the Prophet] إِنَّ الصَّحَابَةَ كُلَّهُمْ كَذُكَاءِ قَدْ نَوَّرُوا وَجْهَ الْوَرَى بِصِيَاءِ All the Companions are like the Sun; They illuminated the world with their light. تَرَكُوا أَقَارِ بَهِمْ وَحُبَّ عِيَالِهِمْ جَاءُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَالْفُقَرَاءِ They left their relatives and beloved children And came to the Messenger of Allah like one who is destitute. ذُبِحُوا وَمَا خَافُوا الْوَرَى مِنْ صِدْقِهِمْ بَلْ أَثَرُوا الرَّحْمَانَ عِنْدَ بَلَاءِ They faced slaughter without fear, such was their sincerity; They gave preference to the Gracious God even at the time of the greatest tribulation. شَهِدُوا بِصِدْقِ الْقَلْبِ فِي الْأَمْلَاءِ تَحْتَ السُّيُوفِ تَشَهَّدُوا لِخُلُوصِهِمْ They recited the Shahādah despite the sword bearing down on their necks; such was their devotion. They testified to the truth publicly with the sincerity of their hearts.
