CH. 66 AT-TAHRİM them, their resort is Hell, and an evil destination it is! 4285 PT. 28 وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ ضَرَبَ اللهُ مَثَلًا لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا امْرَأَتَ Allah sets forth for those. 11 who disbelieve the example of نُوحٍ وَامْرَأَتَ لُوطٍ كَانَتَا تَحْتَ the wife of Noah and the wife عَبْدَيْنِ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا صَالِحَيْنِ فَخَانَتَهُمَا righteous servants of Ours, but فَلَمْ يُغْنِيَا عَنْهُمَا مِنَ اللهِ شَيْئًا وَقِيلَ them. So they availed them ادْخُلَا النَّارَ مَعَ الدُّخِلِينَ of Lot. They were under two they acted unfaithfully towards naught against Allah, and it was said to them, ‘Enter the Fire, ye twain, along with those who enter. ' وَضَرَبَ اللهُ مَثَلًا لِلَّذِينَ أَمَنُوا امْرَأَتَ And Allah sets forth for. 12 those who believe the example فِرْعَوْنَ إِذْ قَالَتْ رَبِّ ابْنِ لِي عِنْدَكَ of the wife of Pharaoh when she said, “My Lord! build for me a بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَنَجِّنِي مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ ;house with Thee in the Garden وَعَمَلِهِ وَنَجِّنِي مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّلِمِينَ ) and deliver me from Pharaoh and his work, and deliver me from the wrongdoing people;' وَمَرْيَمَ ابْنَتَ عِمْرنَ الَّتِي أَحْصَنَتْ And the example of Mary. 13 فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا فِيْهِ مِنْ رُّوحِنَا guarded her chastity so We وَصَدَّقَتْ بِكَلِمَتِ رَبِّهَا وَكُتُبِهِ وَكَانَتْ the daughter of ‘Imrān, who breathed therein of Our Spirit— and she fulfilled in her person "21:92. 4285. Commentary: Whereas, in the preceding verse it Iwas stated that spiritual progress, not only in this world but in the life after death, is endless, in the verse under comment we are told that no advance is possible unless the disbelievers and the hypocrites are strenuously striven 3184 against. Incidentally, the verse explains the real significance of jihad which means, "striving against". Since the hypocrites were regarded as part of the Muslim Community, jihad in the sense of fighting with the sword was never waged against them.
