PT. 28 AL-MUNAFIQŪN CH. 63 سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ اَسْتَغْفَرُ لَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ It is equal to them whether. 7 b تَسْتَغْفِرُ لَهُمْ لَنْ يَغْفِرَ اللهُ لَهُمْ اِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْفُسِقِينَ thou ask forgiveness for them or ask not forgiveness for them. " Allah will never forgive them. Surely, Allah guides not the rebellious people. 4248 هُمُ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ لَا تُنْفِقُوا عَلَى مَنْ They it is who say, Spend. 8 عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ حَتَّى يَنْفَضُّوا وَلِلَّهِ Messenger of Allah that they خَزَابِنُ السَّمَوتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَلكِنَّ Allah belong the الْمُنْفِقِينَ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ. يَقُولُونَ لَبِنْ رَّجَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ not on those who are with the may disperse and leave him;" while to treasures of the heavens and the earth; but the Hypocrites understand not. 4249 9. They say, 'If we return to Medinah, the one most exalted b لَيُخْرِجَنَ الْأَعَزُّ مِنْهَا الْأَذَلَّ وَلِلَّهِ will surely drive out therefrom الْعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُولِهِ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلَكِنَّ the one most mean,' while true honour belongs to Allah and to a9:80. He seeks to please with his glib talk but, being a coward, he suspects danger in every crisis. 4248. Commentary: The hypocrites are the real enemies of Islam, much worse than the disbelievers (v. 5). By their secret wicked designs and machinations against Islam they irretrievably condemn themselves. As they have no faith, the verse says, asking forgiveness for them cannot benefit them in any way. 4249. Commentary: Insincere and dishonest himself, a hypocrite considers others to be like him. The verse points out that the hypocrites of Medina had made an entirely foolish and wrong estimate of the sincerity of purpose of the Holy Prophet's Companions. They had quite a wrong notion that the Companions of the Holy Prophet had gathered round him from considerations of material interest, and that the moment they would find that their hopes had not materialised, desert they would him. Time completely belied their fond and futile expectations. 3159
