PT. 28 AL-JUMU'AH CH. 62 لَمْ يَحْمِلُوهَا كَمَثَلِ الْحِمَارِ يَحْمِلُ Torah, but did not carry out its commandments, is as the likeness اَسْفَارًا بِئْسَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ of an ass carrying a load of books. Evil is the likeness of كَذَّبُوا بِايْتِ اللهِ وَاللهُ لَا يَهْدِى the people who reject the Signs الْقَوْمَ الظَّلِمِينَ قُلْ يَايُّهَا الَّذِينَ هَادُوا إِن زَعَمْتُ Say, “O ye who are des if. 7 of Allah. And Allah guides not the wrongdoing people. 4238 Jews, you claim you are the friends of اَنَّكُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ لِلَّهِ مِنْ دُونِ النَّاسِ Allah to the exclusion of all فَتَمَنَّوُا الْمَوْتَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَدِقِينَ other people, then wish for are Death, if indeed you truthful". '4239 وَلَا يَتَمَنَّوْنَ اَبَدًا بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ But they will never wish for. 8 it, because of that which their hands have sent on before them. And Allah knows well those who do wrong. 4240 وَاللهُ عَلِيمٌ بِالظَّلِمِينَ قُلْ اِنَّ الْمَوْتَ الَّذِي تَفِرُّونَ مِنْهُ فَإِنَّهُ Say, “The Death from which. 9 you flee will surely overtake followers the Promised Messiah. "2:95. b2:96. 4238. Important Words: (books) is the plural of (sifrun) which is derived from (safara). They say i. e. he wrote the book means, a book; a large book; a writing (Lane). Commentary: The verse contains an implied warning to Muslims not to reject the Promised Messiah like the Jews before them who had rejected the Holy Prophet. 3153 4239. Commentary: The verse shows that the Promised Messiah will challenge the Muslim ulema who will reject his claim to asti. e. a prayer contest in which Divine curse is invoked against those who forge lies against God (3:62). 4240. Commentary: The reference in the verse seems to be to those Muslim ulema whom the Promised Messiah will invite to Mubahalah. Being convinced of the falsity of their position the ulema will refuse to accept the challenge.
