CH. 56 PT. 27 AL-WAQIAH 47. And used to persist in extreme sinfulness. وَكَانُوا يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى الْحِنْثِ الْعَظِيمِن وَكَانُوا يَقُوْلُوْنَ اَبِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا And they were wont to say. 48 'What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, وَعِظَامًا ءَ إِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ shall we indeed be raised again",4118 49. And our fathers of yore toob?" 50. Say, “Yes, the earlier ones and the later ones 51. 'Will all be together unto the fixed time of an appointed day. اوَ ابَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ قُلْ اِنَّ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ ) لَمَجْمُوعُوْنَ إِلى مِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ gathered ثُمَّ اِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا الضَّاتُوْنَ الْمُكَذِّبُونَ لَا يَلُونَ مِنْ شَجَرٍ مِنْ زَقَوْمٍ 52. 'Then, O ye that have gone astray and have rejected the truth, 53. Commentary: The verse purports to say that disbelievers indulged in all sorts of iniquitous activities; they, as it were, drained life to the dregs. Therefore, as a punishment, their bellies will be filled with fire and they will drink of the hot water which instead of quenching will increase their thirst.
