CH. 53 AN-NAJM 25. Can man have whatever he desires? 3985 26. Nay, to Allah belong the Hereafter and this world. R. 2. PT. 27 آمْ لِلْإِنْسَانِ مَا تَمَنى فَلِلَّهِ الْآخِرَةُ وَالْأُولى وَكَمْ مِّنْ مَّلَكِ فِي السَّمَوتِ لَا تُغْنِى And how many an angel is. 27 شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا إِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ اَنْ يَّأْذَنَ اللهُ intercession shall be of no avail لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَرْضَى there in the heavens, but their except after Allah has given a wills and pleases. 3986 permission to whomsoever He اِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ Those who believe not in. 28 the Hereafter name the angels with names of females; b ليُسَمُونَ الْمَلَيْكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَ الْأُنثَى وَمَا لَهُمْ بِهِ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِنْ يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا But they have no knowledge. 29 ج thereof. They follow nothing الظَّنَّ وَاِنَّ الظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَ الْحَقِّ but conjecture; and conjecture شَيْئان avails naught against truth. " فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْ مَّنْ تَوَلَّى عَنْ ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ So turn aside from him who. 30 يُرِدُ إِلَّا الْحَيُوةَ الدُّنْيَان seeks and remembrance, turns away from Our nothing but the life of this world. "2:256; 20:110; 34:24. 4:118; 37:150-151; 43:20. º6:117; 10:37. beliefs or doctrines. He falls a helpless victim to conjecture and superstition and is a slave to his own desires and fancies. The verse, as also v. 29, speaks of the utter untenability of an idolater's position. He stands on a broken reed. 3985. Commentary: The verse means that idolaters hope that their gods will intercede for them with Allah. They are entertaining a false hope which will never be fulfilled. 3986. Important Words: For a detailed note on (intercession) see 2:49 and 8,19:88. شفاعة may also لمن يشاء و يرضى The words mean, regarding one who conforms to His will and with whom He is pleased. 3024
