PT. 21 LUQMAN CH. 31 E وَوَصَّيْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ And We have enjoined on. 15 وَهُنَّا عَلَى وَهْنٍ وَفِصَلَهُ فِي عَامَيْنِ mother bears him in آنِ اشْكُرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيْكَ إِلَيَّ الْمَصِيرُ his weaning takes two years man concerning his parents- his weakness upon weakness, and 'Give thanks to Me and to thy parents. Unto Me is the final return. 3041 cóliój وَإِنْ جَاهَدُكَ عَلَى أَنْ تُشْرِكَ بِي مَا لَيْسَ And if they contend with. 16 thee to make thee set up equals لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَا وَصَاحِبُهُمَا with Me concerning which thou hast no knowledge, obey them فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعْرُوفًا وَاتَّبِعْ سَبِيْلَ مَنْ not, but be a kind companion to آنَابَ إِلَى ثُمَّ اِلَى مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأُنَبِئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ ) them in all worldly affairs; and in spiritual matters follow the way of him who turns to Me. Then unto Me will be your return and I shall inform you of what you used to do. '3042 6:152; 19:33; 29:9; 46:16. religious teaching is that God is One. All other noble ideals flow from this principle. By worshipping any other thing or being beside God Who is the Creator, Lord and Sustainer, man degrades himself and stunts, stifles and stultifies his personality. So Luqman began his moral sermon by laying stress on this most supreme of all religious beliefs. 3041. Commentary: This and the next verse form a parenthetical clause and refer to the second most important duty of man, after his duty to God-his obligations to mankind, which begin with his obligations to his parents. He is told that he must be good and kind to his parents. Luqmān only referred to man's duty to God, but God Himself supplements his exhortation by adding man's duty to his parents and also gives the reason for doing so, viz. that parents undergo all sorts of sacrifice for their children, particularly the mother. She has, therefore, secured a special mention here. 2527 3042.
