PT. 16 MARYAM CH. 19 E فَاجَاءَهَا الْمُخَاضُ إِلى جِذْعِ النَّخْلَةِ And the pains of childbirth. 24 drove her unto the trunk of a palm-tree. '2168 نَسيَّا مَنْسِيًّان فَنَادُ بِهَا مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الَّا تَحْزَنِي قَدْ جَعَلَ Then he (the angel) called. 25 her from beneath her, saying, "Grieve not. Thy Lord has placed a rivulet below thee; 2169 The words, 'a remote place', refer to Bethlehem which is about seventy miles south of Nazareth. It also means, one who is counted for nothing, who is despised; a thing which the members of a caravan leave behind as worthless or of little use or importance. also means, a thing that is forgotten or neglected. The use of these two words together in this verse denoting the same sense The words, 'had become a thing severity of the pains of childbirth. In the case of first delivery the throes of childbirth ordinarily are extremely severe and in the intensity of pain women generally give utterance to some such words as those spoken by Mary. 2169.
