CH. 24 لَعِبْرَةً لِأُولِي الْاَبْصَارِ PT. 18 AN-NŪR lesson for those who have eyes. 2625 46. And Allah every animal from water. Of وَاللهُ خَلَقَ كُلَّ دَآبَّةٍ مِنْ مَّا فَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ has created 2 يَمْشِي عَلَى بَطْنِهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ يَمْشِى them are some that go upon their bellies, and of them are عَلَى رِجْلَيْنِ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ يَمْشِي عَلَى some that go upon two feet, and أَرْبَعٍ يَخْلُقُ اللهُ مَا يَشَاءُ إِنَّ اللهَ عَلَى upon four. Allah creates what كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ among them are some that go He pleases. Surely, Allah has the power to do all that He pleases. 2626 لَقَدْ اَنْزَلْنَا ايةٍ مُّبَيِّنَتِ وَاللهُ يَهْدِى We have indeed sent down. 47 مَنْ يَّشَاءُ إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمِ manifest Signs. And Allah guides whom He pleases to the right path. وَيَقُولُونَ امَنَّا بِاللهِ وَبِالرَّسُولِ وَأَطَعْنَا And they say, “We believe. 48 in Allah and in the Messenger, ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّى فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ذَلِكَ and we obey; then after that وَمَا أُولَيكَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ some of them turn away. But such are not believers. 2625. Commentary: "25:55. The verse means to say that the spiritual development of man referred to in the preceding verse is not always uniform and uninterrupted. Sometimes it is very rapid, at another time it is slow and yet some other time it comes to a dead stop. This ebb and flow in the spiritual development of man is called as (contraction) and (expansion) or the alternation of night and day in spiritual termin- ology. Everything in the world is subject to the law of acceleration and retardation and so is the spiritual evolution of man. 2626. Commentary: This verse describes the nature and form of the progress of spiritual pilgrims to their destined goal. The progress of some of them is extremely slow. They creep and crawl to their destination. Others go quicker like animals that move on two legs, yet others go faster like four-legged animals. What is hinted at here is speed and not the method of locomotion. The four-legged animals are, as a rule, speedier of movement than the bipeds or the crawlers. The 2285
