CH. 14 IBRAHİM PT. 13 وَسَكَنْتُمْ فِي مَسْكِنِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا And you dwell in the. 46 dwellings of those who wronged plain to you how We dealt with اَنْفُسَهُمْ وَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمْ كَيْفَ فَعَلْنَا بِهِمْ themselves, and it has become them: and We have set forth clear parables for you. ' 1700 وَضَرَبْنَا لَكُمُ الْأَمْثَالَ وَقَدْ مَكَرُوا مَكْرَهُمْ وَعِنْدَ اللهِ And they have already. 47 مَكْرُهُمْ وَإِنْ كَانَ مَكْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ. their designs are with Allah مِنْهُ الْجِبَالُ. designed all their designs; and And even though their designs be such as to make the mountains move, they cannot succeed. 1701 "3:55; 8:31; 13:43; 27:51. The words, Did you not swear before this that you would have no fall? show that disbelievers were confident that their prosperity would endure forever. This led to their becoming haughty and arrogant. 1700. Important Words: J (clear parables) is the plural of (mathal) or (mithal) and is derived from the verb (mathala). means, he became like such a means, he likened or مثل فلانا بفلان. one compared such a one with such a one. (mathal) or (mithal) means, (1) a description, condition, state, case etc. ; (2) argument; (3) discourse, as ini. e. he lengthened to him his discourse; (4) lesson or example, ie. We made. فجعلنا هم سلفا و مثلا للاخرين as We made him (Jesus) a sign to the children of Israel (Lane & Aqrab). See also 2:18, 107; 6:39. Commentary: Many people dwell in or near the places where by-gone peoples, now ruined, dwelt before them, yet they do not benefit by their example and refuse to believe till they themselves are punished. 1701. Important Words: (even though) gives a number of meanings such as, if; though; even though, etc. It is also sometimes used to express negation i. e. not (Aqrab). Commentary: The words, they have already them a precedent and an example to designed all their designs, mean that coming generations (43:57); (5) a disbelievers did all that lay in their proverb, as they sayi. e. power and left no stone unturned and he used the verse as a proverb; (6) a no plan untried to bring the Holy sign, as in his site (43:60) i. e. | Prophet to grief. 1560
