CH. 9 AT-TAUBAH PT. 11 وَمَا كَانَ اللهُ لِيُضِلَّ قَوْمًا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَهُمْ And it is not for Allah to. 115 cause a people to go astray after حَتَّى يُبَيِّنَ لَهُمْ مَّا يَتَّقُونَ اِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُلِّ He has guided them until He شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ b makes clear to them that which they ought to guard against. Surely, Allah knows all things full well. إِنَّ اللهَ لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ Surely, it is Allah to. 16 يُخي وَيُمِيتُ وَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللهِ the heavens and the earth. He مِنْ وَلِي وَلَا نَصِيرٍ Whom belongs the kingdom of gives life and causes death. And you have no friend nor helper beside Allah. لَقَدْ تَابَ الله عَلَى النَّبِيِّ وَالْمُجِرِينَ Allah has certainly turned. 117 with mercy to the Prophet and وَالْأَنْصَارِ الَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ فِي سَاعَةِ الْعُسْرَةِ to the Migrants and the Helpers مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا كَادَ يَزِيغُ قُلُوْبُ فَرِيقٍ مِّنْهُ ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ إِنَّهُ بِهِمْ رَءُوفٌ party of them had well-nigh رَّحِيمُ who followed him in the hour of distress after the hearts of a swerved. He again turned to them with mercy. Surely, He is to them Compassionate, Merciful. 1264 "39:45; 57:3. expressive of high praise for Holy Prophet and those who Abraham. See also 6:75. 1264. Commentary: It is clear from this verse that the word (turned with mercy) does not necessarily mean "turning with mercy by way of accepting repentance. " It also means, as in the present verse, "bestowing favour upon a person, or being gracious to him," for it has been used here with regard to the 1200 cheerfully followed him in the hour of distress. Indeed, in the case of the Holy Prophet and his faithful followers it was not an occasion for granting forgiveness but for bestowing reward. As it was an "hour of distress" for the Muslims, the expedition to Tabūk is rightly known as (Ghazwatul- 'Usrah), i. e. the Expedition of Distress.
