Their fears were allayed by Surāqah, a chief of Banū Kanānah, who assured them that his tribesmen would do them no harm (Jarir, x. 13). The words, I see what you see not, from the thing or the affair; or he signify that when Surāqah saw the recoiled or shrank from it in fear. fear took hold of him; for on seeing grim determination of the Muslims, means, he turned back from a thing to which he had applied himself (Lane). Commentary: For the meaning of the word "Satan", see 2:15. The word here means, one who misleads or gives 1115 them he was convinced that the Muslims would win or die.
