PT. 6 CH. 5 AL-MA'IDAH He pleases; and Allah has power to do all things. 672A not those grieve thee who who say with their mouths, 'We ياَيُّهَا الرَّسُوْلُ لَا يَحْزُكَ الَّذِين O Messenger of ours et. 42 يُسَارِعُونَ فِي الْكُفْرِ مِنَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا آمَنَّا hastily fall into disbelief those بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَلَمْ تُؤْ مِنْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَمِنَ } believe, but their hearts believe الَّذِينَ هَادُوا سَمُّعُوْنَ لِلْكَذِبِ not. And among the Jews too are those who would fondly سَمْعُوْنَ لِقَوْمٍ أُخَرِينَ لَمْ يَأْتُوكَ listen to any lie who listen يُحَرِّفُونَ الْكَلِمَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَوَاضِعِهِ يَقُولُونَ اِنْ أُوتِيْتُمْ هذَا فَخُذُوهُ وَاِنْ لَّمْ ج تُؤْتَوْهُ فَاحْذَرُوا وَمَنْ يُرِدِ اللهُ فِتْنَتَهُ for conveying it to another people who have not come to thee. "They pervert words after their being put in their right places, and say, “If you are given this, then accept it, but if فَلَن تَمْلِكَ لَهُ مِنَ اللهِ شَيْئًا أُولَبِكَ الَّذِينَ you are not given this, then ط beware!' And as for him whom لَمْ يُرِدِ اللهُ أَنْ يُطَهِّرَ قُلُوبَهُمْ لَهُمْ فِي Allah desires to try, thou shalt الدُّنْيَا خِزْى وَلَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ not avail him aught against Allah. These are they whose hearts Allah has not been pleased to purify; they shall have disgrace in this world, and 672A. Commentary: 9:47. 2:76; 3:79; 4:47. word is the law, there being no appeal against His orders. So man should be Expressions like, He punishes extremely careful in following His whom He pleases and forgives whom wish and carrying out His He pleases, do not mean that the commandments. But, as God has divine government of the universe is Himself ordained, "His mercy arbitrary and is based on no system or surpasses or outweighs His anger" law. Such expressions are only | (Bukhari, and the universe is intended to point out that, God being governed by "set laws of good and the final authority in the universe, His | evil" (Muslim, ch. on Iman). 780
