CH. 3 ĀL-E-‘IMRĀN PT. 4 الَّذِيْنَ قَالَ لَهُمُ النَّاسُ إِنَّ النَّاسَ قَدْ ,Those to whom men said. 174 'People have mustered against , وا لَكُمْ فَاخْشَوْهُمْ فَزَادَهُمُ you, therefore fear them, but جمعوا إيْمَانًا وَقَالُوا حَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ ,this only increased their faith فَانْقَلَبُوا بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ اللهِ وَفَضْلٍ لَّمْ * يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوءٍ وَاتَّبَعُوا رِضْوَانَ اللهِ وَاللهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَظِيمٍ ) and they said, 'Sufficient for us is Allah, and an excellent Guardian is He. '456 175. So they returned with a mighty favour from Allah and a great bounty, while no evil had touched them; and they followed the pleasure of Allah; and Allah is the Lord of great bounty. 457 b إِنَّمَا ذَلِكُمُ الشَّيْطَنُ يُخَوِّفُ اَوْلِيَاءَهُ It is Satan who only. 176 فَلَا تَخَافُوهُمْ وَخَافُونِ اِنْ كُنْتُمُ frightens his friends; so fear them not but fear Me, if you are believers. 458 a2:208, 266; 3:16, 163; 5:3, 17; 9:72; 57:21, 28. b7:28; 16:101; 35:7. 456. Important Words: (guardian). ✓5, is derived he left وكل اليه الامر They says. وكل from the matter to him and did not interfere in it. means, leave thou me to manage this thing as I may deem proper. 5, means, one to whom the management of an affair is left or consigned; guardian; agent or deputy. ✓✓✓ is one of the names of God meaning, Guardian; One Who watches or looks after the affairs of the Faithful; One sufficing for His servants (Aqrab & Lane). Commentary: The reference here is to the false 592 مؤْمِنِينَ rumours spread by Nu‘aim bin Mas'ud that the Meccans had made great preparations against the Muslims and were about to attack them. See also the preceding verse. 457. Commentary: As stated above, the Muslims returned from Badraș-Ṣughrā after having made great profit by trading at the annual fair held there. This is hinted in the word "bounty". The words, no evil had touched them, mean that there was no fighting, the Meccans having failed to appear. 458. Commentary: The expression rendered in
