PT. 3 AL-BAQARAH b CH. 2 تِلْكَ أَيتُ اللهِ نَتْلُوهَا عَلَيْكَ بِالْحَقِّ These are the Signs of. 253 وَانَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ. تِلْكَ الرُّسُلُ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَى Allah; We recite them unto thee with truth. Surely, thou art one of the Messengers. 259 254. "These Messengers have We exalted, some of them b there are those to whom Allah بَعْضٍ مِنْهُمْ مَّنْ كَلَّمَ اللهُ وَرَفَعَ above others: among them بَعْضَهُمْ دَرَجتٍ وَأَتَيْنَا عِيسَى ابْنَ spoke; and some of them He مَرْيَمَ الْبَيْنْتِ وَاَيَّدْنَهُ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللهُ مَا اقْتَتَلَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ exalted by degrees of rank. And "We gave Jesus, son of Mary, clear proofs and strengthened him with the Spirit of Holiness. بَعْدِهِمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَتُ And if Allah had so willed وَلكِنِ اخْتَلَفُوا فَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ امَنَ those that came after them would not have fought with one another after clear Signs had وَ مِنْهُمْ مَّنْ كَفَرَ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللهُ مَا come to them; but they did سلام سلام اقْتَتَلُوا وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ يَفْعَلُ مَا يُرِيدُن م disagree. Of them were some who believed, and of them were some who disbelieved. Commentary: The story of Ṭālūt, Jālūt and David has been fittingly concluded by God with the verse under comment to point out that these incidents have been referred to by the Quran not by way of telling a story but as divine signs in order to hint that the Prophet of Islam, being also a Messenger of | (Aqrab). 397 fought with one اقتتل and اقتتلوا another) are derived from i. e. he killed. means, they fought with, and attempted to kill, one another
