The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam — Page xiii

The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam xi beginning and the end of these pages are marked by a star (b) In previous editions the translation of Quranic verses in the text was literal, whereas the Promised Messiahas gives explanatory translation. In the present edition the Promised Messiahas's translation is given in the text and the literal translation is given in the footnotes. (c) In the earlier editions some sentences of the Urdu text were left untranslated. The translation of such sentences has been added. Moreover, at some places, the translation of some sentences was not according to the Urdu text. These have been re- translated. (d) An index is given which was not given in the earlier editions. For the revision and the preparation of the index etc. , I was helped by Mirza Anas Ahmad Şahib, M. A, M. Litt. (Oxon), Wakīlul Ishāʻat, Tahrīk-e-Jadīd, for which I am extremely grateful to him. The references from the Holy Qur'an herein cite the chapter and verse. In some renderings, the opening verse (Bismillahir-Rahmānir-Rahim In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful) is not counted and readers using such editions should keep this point in mind to obtain the relevant reference that we have counted it as a verse of the Holy Quran in this book.
