وَمَا تَوۡفِيقِيٓ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِ ۚ عَلَيۡهِ تَوَكَّلۡتُ وَإِلَيۡهِ أُنِيبُ

There is no power in me save through Allah. In Him do I trust and to Him do I return.

أَوۡ تُسۡقِطَ ٱلسَّمَآءَ كَمَا زَعَمۡتَ عَلَيۡنَا كِسَفًا أَوۡ تَأۡتِيَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ قَبِيلًا

‘Or thou cause the heaven to fall upon us in pieces, as thou hast claimed, or thou bring Allah and the angels before us face to face;

مَا قَدَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدۡرِهِۦٓ

They esteem not Allah with the estimation which is His due.

لَّا تُدۡرِكُهُ ٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرُ وَهُوَ يُدۡرِكُ ٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱللَّطِيفُ ٱلۡخَبِيرُ

Eyes cannot reach Him but He reaches the eyes. And He is the Incomprehensible, the All-Aware.

وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدۡنِي عِلۡمٗا

Say, O my Lord, increase me in knowledge.

دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ

He drew nearer to God; then he came down to mankind.

فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوۡسَيۡنِ أَوۡ أَدۡنَىٰ

So that he became, as it were, one chord to two bows or closer still.

فَأَيُّ ٱلۡفَرِيقَيۡنِ أَحَقُّ بِٱلۡأَمۡنِ ۖ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ

’ Which, then, of the two parties has greater right to security, if indeed you know?

فَأَقِمۡ وَجۡهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفٗا ۚ فِطۡرَتَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِي فَطَرَ ٱلنَّاسَ عَلَيۡهَا

So set thy face to the service of religion as one devoted to God. And follow the nature made by Allah — the nature in which He has created mankind.

وَإِذۡ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنۢ بَنِيٓ ءَادَمَ مِن ظُهُورِهِمۡ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمۡ وَأَشۡهَدَهُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ أَلَسۡتُ بِرَبِّكُمۡ ۖ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰ شَهِدۡنَآ ۚ أَن تَقُولُواْ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنۡ هَٰذَا غَٰفِلِينَ

And when thy Lord brings forth from Adam’s children — out of their loins — their offspring and makes them witnesses against their own selves by saying: ‘Am I not your Lord?’ They say, ‘Yea, we do bear witness.’ This He does lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, ‘We were surely unaware of this.’

وَفِيٓ أَنفُسِكُمۡ ۚ أَفَلَا تُبۡصِرُونَ

And also in your own selves. Will you not then see?

أَفِي ٱللَّهِ شَكّٞ فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ۖ

‘Are you in doubt concerning Allah, Maker of the heavens and the earth?

إِنَّ فِي خَلۡقِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَٱخۡتِلَٰفِ ٱلَّيۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلَّتِي تَجۡرِي فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ بِمَا يَنفَعُ ٱلنَّاسَ وَمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مِن مَّآءٖ فَأَحۡيَا بِهِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ مَوۡتِهَا وَبَثَّ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ دَآبَّةٖ وَتَصۡرِيفِ ٱلرِّيَٰحِ وَٱلسَّحَابِ ٱلۡمُسَخَّرِ بَيۡنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَعۡقِلُونَ

Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the alternation of night and day, and in the ships which sail in the sea with that which profits men, and in the water which Allah sends down from the sky and quickens therewith the earth after its death and scatters therein all kinds of beasts, and in the change of the winds, and the clouds pressed into service between the heaven and the earth — are indeed Signs for the people who understand.

وَفِيٓ أَنفُسِكُمۡ ۚ أَفَلَا تُبۡصِرُونَ

And also in your own selves. Will you not then see?

أَفَلَمۡ يَنظُرُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَوۡقَهُمۡ كَيۡفَ بَنَيۡنَٰهَا وَزَيَّنَّـٰهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِن فُرُوجٖ

Have they not looked at the sky above them, how We have made it and adorned it, and there are no flaws in it?

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَٰهَا وَأَلۡقَيۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجِۭ بَهِيجٖ

And the earth — We have spread it out, and placed therein firm mountains; and We have made to grow therein every kind of beautiful species,

تَبۡصِرَةٗ وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبۡدٖ مُّنِيبٖ

As a means of enlightenment and as a reminder to every servant that turns to God.

وَلِلَّهِۤ يَسۡجُدُۤ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ طَوۡعٗا وَكَرۡهٗا

And to Allah submits whosoever is in the heavens and the earth willingly or unwillingly .

وَكُلّٞ فِي فَلَكٖ يَسۡبَحُونَ

All of them float in an orbit.

وَإِنَّ لَكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ لَعِبۡرَةٗ ۖ نُّسۡقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِي بُطُونِهِۦ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ فَرۡثٖ وَدَمٖ لَّبَنًا خَالِصٗا سَآئِغٗا لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ

And surely in the cattle too there is a lesson for you. We give you to drink of what is in their bellies, from betwixt the faeces and the blood, milk pure and pleasant for those who drink it.

وَمِن ثَمَرَٰتِ ٱلنَّخِيلِ وَٱلۡأَعۡنَٰبِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنۡهُ سَكَرٗا وَرِزۡقًا حَسَنًا ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَعۡقِلُونَ

And of the fruits of the datepalms and the grapes, whence you obtain intoxicating drink and wholesome food. Verily, in that is a Sign for a people who make use of their reason.

وَأَوۡحَىٰ رَبُّكَ إِلَى ٱلنَّحۡلِ أَنِ ٱتَّخِذِي مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُيُوتٗا وَمِنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ وَمِمَّا يَعۡرِشُونَ

And thy Lord has inspired the bee, saying, ‘Make thou houses in the hills and in the trees and in the trellises which they build.

ثُمَّ كُلِي مِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ فَٱسۡلُكِي سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلٗا ۚ يَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بُطُونِهَا شَرَابٞ مُّخۡتَلِفٌ أَلۡوَٰنُهُۥ فِيهِ شِفَآءٞ لِّلنَّاسِ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

‘Then eat of every kind of fruit, and follow the ways of thy Lord that have been made easy for thee.’ There comes forth from their bellies a drink of varying hues. Therein is cure for men. Surely, in that is a Sign for a people who reflect.

تَبَٰرَكَ ٱلَّذِي بِيَدِهِ ٱلۡمُلۡكُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٌ

Blessed is He in Whose hand is the kingdom, and He has power over all things;

ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ وَٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ لِيَبۡلُوَكُمۡ أَيُّكُمۡ أَحۡسَنُ عَمَلٗا ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡغَفُورُ

Who has created death and life that He might try you — which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Most Forgiving.

ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ سَبۡعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٖ طِبَاقٗا ۖ مَّا تَرَىٰ فِي خَلۡقِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ مِن تَفَٰوُتٖ ۖ فَٱرۡجِعِ ٱلۡبَصَرَ هَلۡ تَرَىٰ مِن فُطُورٖ

Who has created seven heavens in harmony. No incongruity canst thou see in the creation of the Gracious God. Then look again: Seest thou any flaw?

ثُمَّ ٱرۡجِعِ ٱلۡبَصَرَ كَرَّتَيۡنِ يَنقَلِبۡ إِلَيۡكَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ خَاسِئٗا وَهُوَ حَسِيرٞ

Aye, look again, and yet again, thy sight will only return unto thee confused and fatigued.

وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡمُنتَهَىٰ

And that to thy Lord do all things ultimately go;

قُتِلَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَآ أَكۡفَرَهُۥ

Ruin seize the man! how ungrateful he is!

مَا قَدَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدۡرِهِۦٓ

They esteem not Allah with the estimation which is His due.

أَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ إِلَىٰ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ مِن شَيۡءٖ يَتَفَيَّؤُاْ ظِلَٰلُهُۥ عَنِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ وَٱلشَّمَآئِلِ سُجَّدٗا لِّلَّهِ وَهُمۡ دَٰخِرُونَ

Have they not seen that the shadows of everything which Allah has created shift from the right and from the left, prostrating themselves to Allah, while they are being humbled?

وَلِلَّهِۤ يَسۡجُدُۤ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ

And whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth submits humbly to Allah.

وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا لَٰعِبِينَ

And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between the two in play.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ لَكُم مَّا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ جَمِيعٗا

He it is Who created for you all that is in the earth.

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ

And He has subjected to you whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth.

قُتِلَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَآ أَكۡفَرَهُۥ

Ruin seize the man! how ungrateful he is!

أَنَا۠ أَوَّلُ ٱلۡعَٰبِدِينَ

I would have been the first of worshippers.’

لَّا تُدۡرِكُهُ ٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرُ وَهُوَ يُدۡرِكُ ٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ ۖ

قَالَ لَمۡ أَكُن لِّأَسۡجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقۡتَهُۥ مِن صَلۡصَٰلٖ مِّنۡ حَمَإٖ مَّسۡنُونٖ

He answered, ‘I am not going to submit to man whom Thou hast created from dry ringing clay, from black mud wrought into shape.’

فَأَلۡهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقۡوَىٰهَا

And He revealed to it what is wrong for it and what is right for it —

وَهَدَيۡنَٰهُ ٱلنَّجۡدَيۡنِ

And We have pointed out to him the two highways of good and evil.

وَإِذۡ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنۢ بَنِيٓ ءَادَمَ مِن ظُهُورِهِمۡ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمۡ وَأَشۡهَدَهُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ أَلَسۡتُ بِرَبِّكُمۡ ۖ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰ شَهِدۡنَآ ۚ أَن تَقُولُواْ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنۡ هَٰذَا غَٰفِلِينَ

فَأَمَّا ٱلزَّبَدُ فَيَذۡهَبُ جُفَآءٗ ۖ وَأَمَّا مَا يَنفَعُ ٱلنَّاسَ فَيَمۡكُثُ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ۚ

Now, as to the foam, it goes away as rubbish, but as to that which benefits men, it stays on the earth.

كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَغۡلِبَنَّ أَنَا۠ وَرُسُلِيٓ ۚ

Allah has decreed: ‘Most surely I will prevail, I and My Messengers.

إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهۡدِينِ

‘My Lord is with me. He will direct me aright.’

إِن جَآءَكُمۡ فَاسِقُۢ بِنَبَإٖ فَتَبَيَّنُوٓاْ

If an unrighteous person brings you any news, ascertain the correctness of the report fully.

تِلۡكَ إِذٗا قِسۡمَةٞ ضِيزَىٰٓ

That indeed is an unfair division.

إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَآ إِلَيۡكُمۡ رَسُولٗا شَٰهِدًا عَلَيۡكُمۡ كَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ رَسُولٗا

Verily, We have sent to you a Messenger, who is a witness over you, even as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh.

أَلَا بِذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطۡمَئِنُّ ٱلۡقُلُوبُ

Aye! it is in the remembrance of Allah that hearts can find comfort.

لَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ فِيٓ أَحۡسَنِ تَقۡوِيمٖ

Surely, We have created man in the best make;

وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا بَٰطِلٗا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ ۚ فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ

And We have not created the heaven and the earth and all that is between them in vain. That is the view of those who disbelieve. Woe, then, to the disbelievers because of the Fire.
