بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1 الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَ سَلَامٌ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ الَّذِينَ اصْطَفَى 2 Darūrat-ul-Imam The Need for the Imam 3 Now, then, let it be clear that an authentic Hadith' testi- fies that he who does not recognize the Imam of his 1 In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful. [Publishers] حدثنا عبد الله حدثني أبي حدثنا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ أَنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَنْ عاصم عن أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ مَنْ مَاتَ بِغَيْرِ إِمَامٍ مَاتَ مِيْتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً صفحه ٩٦ جلد ٤ مسند احمد و اخرجه احمد و الترمذی و ابن خزيمة و ابن حبان و صححه من حديث الحارث الاشعرى بلفظ من مَاتَ وَ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ إِمَامُ جَمَاعَةٍ فَإِنَّ مَوْتَتَهُ مَوْتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً ورواه الحاكم من حديث بن عمرو من حديث معاوية ورواه البزار من حديث ابن عباس 3 [Author] Translation: Abdullah related to us from his father, he from Aswad bin Amir, he from Abu Bakr, he from Asim, he from Abu Salih, and he from Muawiyah, that the Holy Prophets said: 'He who dies without [recognizing] the Imam dies the death of ignorance. ' Page 96 vol. 4 Musnad Ahmad. This [Hadith] is also recorded by Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Ibn-e-Khuzaimah and Ibni Habban. Al-Harith Al-Ashari gives another version of this Hadith: 'He who dies without [following] the Imam of a Jama'at certainly dies a death of ignorance. ' Hakim reports this from Bin Amr, he from Muawi- yah, he from Bazzar, and he from Ibni Abbas. [Publishers] 1
