64 ΑΙΝΑ-Ε-ΚΑMĀLĀT-E-ISLAM-DAFI UL-WASĀWIS it is not my intent to expose the errors of the present-day ulema to the public because whatever has dawned upon me of their sorry state of poor judgement, evil inner selves, suspicious temperaments, and foul talk, shall soon be discussed by me in reply to their own questions. In this Preface, I only wish to point out that our ulema have failed to rec- ognize the crisis which has befallen Islam. Instead of supporting Islam, they themselves have supported the Christians by providing them with a partial argument through their very own statements. The Noble Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, had made it clear to us, not by one, but by twelve strong arguments and con- clusive criteria that Jesus, son of Mary, peace be on him, is dead, and the Promised Messiah who is to come shall appear from this very Ummah. The fact that the path- ways to success have become difficult and innumerable complications surround Islam like a circle is not difficult to understand for a sensible person who surveys the prevailing ailments of this age. But, alas! Most of our ulema, whose ignorance and stupidity are pitiable, are completely oblivious to this violent tempest. And I grieve all the more when I see that in addition to the lack of concern, heed- lessness, and indifference that this group holds regarding Islam, there is a serious decline in their true righteousness and integrity, whereas
