60 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI UL-WASĀWIS The reason is that in the verse, 'coming' has been expressed in juxtapo- sition with ‘going, which makes it essential that 'coming' and ‘going' should both be applied in the very same context. In other words, one went to that world, and one came from that world. Thereafter, the second testimony of Haḍrat Masiḥ [the Messiah] regarding his death is a clear and plain reference in the verse: 1 [Since You did cause me to die. ] Whosoever has eyes, look and see! Bear in mind that the verse: gives an indication of the fulfilment of the very promise which was made in the verse: يعيسى إلى مُتَوَفِّيكَ وَ رَافِعُكَ إِلَى In order to understand these meanings of [tawaffi—cause to die], which reflect the purpose and intent of Allah the Glorious, it is neces- sary to evaluate these two verses-the promise and the realization of the promise-collectively with a consistent view. But sadly, our ulema have no interest in this research. This very word [tawaffi], which is employed in two places of the Noble Quran with reference to the Messiah, is precisely the same that is also applied in the Noble Quran for our Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, as Allah the Glorious says: وَإِنْ قَانُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ الَّذِي نَعِدُهُمْ أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ Here, too, if our ulema had taken the meaning of [tawaffi] to be 1. Surah al-Ma'idah, 5:118 [Publisher] 2. O Jesus, I will cause you to die a natural death and will exalt you to Myself (Surah Al-e-Imran, 3:56). [Publisher] 3. And whether We make you see the fulfilment of some of the things with which We threaten them or whether We make you die, it makes little difference (Surah ar-Ra'd, 13:41). [Publisher]
