PREFACE 57 by Him in His Word and Work through some of the elect to provide proof of the point that His Word and Work are neither deficient nor frail and feeble. In the time of Ḥaḍrat Mūsā [Moses], there was a need for a serpent to confront the serpents, and in the time of the Messiah, medicine men and sorcerers needed to be opposed by the power of spiritual healing. Thus, God Almighty helped His Prophets accord- ing to the demands of the time. The fact is, the needs of the time of our Leader and Guide, the Seal of the Messengers, were not limited to any one particular category. In point of time, too, his age was not lim- ited but, rather, is so expansive that it extends to the Day of Judgment. Therefore, the All-Powerful and All-Wise Lord placed endless excel- lences in the Noble Quran. The Noble Quran has been perfectly reme- dying the mischief of every age on account of these excellences wherein the slightest good has not been omitted. Accordingly, during the time of the Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, the monumental feat of the Noble Quran was to reform the fundamental teachings for all mankind. Hence, it con- ferred clear and straightforward principles for the cognition of God and for respecting the rights of human beings upon the entire world, and re-established the lost doctrine of Tauḥīd. In contrast to the totally mis- guided thinking of the world, it presented a Book filled with wisdom and light, couched in lofty, eloquent, and lucid words, which shattered all prevailing notions and manifested a wondrous miracle of wisdom, cognizance, eloquence, lucidity, and forceful appeal. Thereafter, in this very fashion throughout every era, whenever any kind of darkness raised its head, the light of this Holy Word continued dispelling that darkness because that Sacred Text—an eternal mira- cle had brought within it the consummate light for obliterating the various kinds of darknesses of different ages. Accordingly, it has been removing and repelling every kind of darkness through the power of its light up to the point that this era emerged wherein we find ourselves. And just as the Noble Quran had prophesied, the earth unleashed in our time all the darknesses that lay concealed beneath it, and a turbulent
