The Mirror of the Excellences of Islam — Page 56
PREFACE 55 constitute an opportunity afforded to us through Divine wisdom to disclose the hidden subtleties and verities of Islam. Thus, in the light of these new insights, which shall be made manifest and are being manifested upon those who ponder as a result of the opportunity thus afforded them, the seekers of truth may be saved from the many forms of terrible darkness prevalent in the world today. However, in case we do not attend to them, these objections are cause for great appre- hension and appear such as could raise a storm of misguidance. Mere knowledge of Islamic beliefs, or familiarity with ancient texts, will not be a sufficient protection against them. People of perceptive wisdom realize that these objections constitute a serious trial for the Muslims, and if the Muslims show negligence towards this calamity, this poison- ous material will continue to gradually affect them and their descend- ants until it carries them to destruction. The [certainty of] faith which can prevail against evil thoughts and misguidance can never come into being without the intervention of heavenly knowledge. So how can such people—who are ignorant of the beauties of the Holy Quran, are powerless to refute external objec- tions, and deny verities and lofty insights of the Word of God—remain protected from the dangers of stumbling? On the contrary, in this day and age, that barren faith of theirs is at risk of being in grave danger and is incapable of enduring the most trivial trial. The firm establishment of an individual's faith in God Almighty is possible only for the one whose faith in His Book is firmly established, and the firm establishment of the faith in His Book is possible only when the Holy Word of God Almighty is itself seen as an of unsurpassable miracle and an infinite ocean of insights and verities without the need of manqūlī miracles' that are not even visible today. Yet, these are the people who believe that a fly reflects innumerable such wonders of the might of the Omnipotent God that no man can make the like of it, no 1. Manquli miracles refer to miraculous events that have been narrated and handed down over generations through traditions. [Publisher]
