Those accus- tomed to taking intoxicants have given up their intoxication— many people have stopped smoking the hookah. The erstwhile Shias among the followers of Mirza Şāhib have stopped their tabarra and started loving the Companionsa, and stopped the practices of taʼziah and chants of lamentation. Some descend- ants of pirs who considered Maulawi Muhammad Husain and even Muhammad Isma'il Shahid to be disbelievers, have started respecting Maulana Isma'il Shahid as their honoured mentor. If such is the influence of the alleged dajjāls and liars while the claimants of being the ‘Vicegerents' of the Noble Messenger are deprived of them, then I am delighted to be amongst the dajjal. A tree is known by its fruits. Even Allah the Exalted has been recognized by the people through His attributes; other- wise, no one can see His Being. If you [simply] call a perfectly healthy person sick, he doesn't actually become sick. Similarly, the one who is a truly righteous believer in the sight of Allah the Exalted, and whose heart is permeated with the love of Allah and His Apostlesas suffers no harm if anyone ascribes to him the titles of a hypocrite, disbeliever, or dajjal, etc. The col- our white cannot be black if someone [simply] starts to call it so, and the sun cannot be worthy of blame [simply] because the bats loathe it. The tyrannical behaviour of Yazid can inflict pain on Husain, but cannot annihilate him. He will make progress steadily by continuing to suffer pain, and will continue to do so. In other words, the obstacles placed by the maulawīs can- not wipe out the group of Mirza Şāhib, just as the river can- not be stopped by a dam built upon it. It may be interrupted for a brief period, but the dam will break, and the river will start flowing forcefully and carry the surrounding habitations of the opponents with it.
