AN ADDENDUM MY LIFE, ANCESTORS, AND BRETHREN IN FAITH 541 humanity and the light of faith is in fact the discernment and who- soever lost them both, surely he is no more a human being; rather, he is like a worm. Whosoever understood this secret has comprehended the concept of virtue, so stand up and be ready to look for the essence which is deeper than the inner self, the meaning of the meaning, and the light of the light, so do not be jubilant over just outer layer. Come to life, and strive for wisdom and do not be like dead. ' This is all that I told them. I now entrust my affair to Allah. It is He who is my Lord. I submit myself to Allah. I know that He will never let me fall in disgrace, nor will He waste me, nor will He make me one of those who have gone astray. O my dear ones! Now I present some of my dreams and visions to you, in which I saw the Holy Prophet sas. These visions and dreams of mine date back to my early days. These visions gave me the courage of a lion and prepared me to fight with oppressors and the pharaohs of the time. O noble people! I have seen the Holy Prophet as many times in my visions after which I received blessings and favours from him. Now I would like to present you some of these visions so that you may reflect upon my situation and consider me as a wise man. My people ran away from me the way a savage bull runs. They have abandoned the ways of humanity and have become like burning embers. Infuriated, they adopted the manner of bestial characteristics and the rigidity of their nature made them hard like rocks. I saw their angry and ominously changed faces. They agreed on harming and ridiculing me by commit- ting transgression and disobedience. They surpassed each other in cast- ing slurs upon me like galloping horses. None of them is ready to accept his defeat because none of them can see himself disgraced in front of his people. So when I saw their land barren and their sky cloudless, I came to you along with my pure water to speak to you. 1.
