AN ADDENDUM Regarding the Special Circumstances that will Benefit those Eager to Know Further Details about my Life and the Lives of my Ancestors and of some of my Brethren in Faith All praise belongs to Allah who made those pious scholars-hon- oured with Divine discourse-into the heirs of the Prophets. He taught them the highest morals, cleansed them of every filth, and shaped them like clear flowing water. He taught them and purified their knowl- edge, granted true Divine understanding to them, and perfected their insights, elevating them to the lofty minarets of perfect certainty [of faith]. He granted them prosperity and embedded the conditions of success in all their intentions, deeds, acts, and sayings, so much so that they were fully purified in their brilliance appearing like the bullion of pure gold. He opened their bosoms, perfected their light, made His countenance the centre of their bliss and delight, and detached them from everything other than Him. He raised their station, made their steps firm, enlightened their intellects, cleansed their insight and intu- ition, granted the power of the sword to their pens and the brightness of pearls to their discourse. Allah, the Noblest of benefactors, is the Bestower of blessings. Peace and blessings be upon the noble master, the glorious, the gra- cious, the Seal of the Prophets and the Pride of the Messengers, who surpassed all the earlier and the later ones in guidance, purity, nearness [to God], and mercy to the faithful, so much so that he was bestowed the titles of some attributes of Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. He is the most honourable; every virtue is taught by him, and he is the source
