490 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS has filled your houses with them. Then, why do you wonder at the descent of heavenly treasures and distance yourselves from them? You become pleased with things of your temporal world and never look towards the provision of your Hereafter, never bothering about it. Why do you wonder at the descent of the Messiah and the days of spiritual blessings while you are witnessing the wonderful favours of Allah that have appeared, those which comfort your bodies in new fashion, as precious robes the likes of which were never found in the times of your ancestors? Do you believe in the wonders done by the disbelievers while you reject the act of God? You despair of Divine providence but do not despair of the power of the created. What is the matter with you that you do not recognize the won- drous acts of Allah by His overt actions—ones which you can easily comprehend and manifestly observe? Did you ever know these won- ders such as railways, telegraph, and other inventions before they appeared in your times? All of this was decreed in the Quran, but you could not understand it. Likewise, you failed to understand the true nature of the descent of the Messiah because of your negligence, while it was so written in the Book of Allah. It is not for man to understand anything unless Allah makes him comprehend it, and here even the Prophets are no exception. Wonder upon wonder! You do not show any reluctance in using the new inventions which refresh your bodies, but when you are invited to the work of Allah who has made everything perfect, and you can use this work to be unique and wonderful, you show disgust and displeasure, deliberately refusing to accept it. O ye people! I have not come to you with anything evil and surely Allah has borne witness to my truthfulness. You witness some of my Signs and find the description of my era written in the Book of Allah in which you believe. Allah has made the matter obscure in your eyes so that He may test your knowledge and righteousness. Thus, a trial suddenly befell you while you were heedless. O my brethren! Hold fast to the Book of Allah and reflect upon it.
